Glassy

Thank god for glass
It makes things clearer
Through the glass walls
you can see the BMW or the Rolce
And even the perfect diamond
A desire is born

Thank god for glass
It confuses you
Now, you can’t decide what you want
And what you need
The dazzle never leaves your eyes
But something holds you back

Thank god for glass
It shines in the sun
Corporate headquarters wear glass all the time
They stand as temples of greed and wear glass to look sexy

Thank god for glass
In the rat race,
Your rear view mirror tells you whos stealing the lead

Thank god for glass
In it you can see yourself
And how pretty you look
But you cannot see a society
Where looks are skin deep
And everything beautiful is mistaken to be good

Thank god for glass
It sparkles
It makes you want to buy
A stud, a point, a definition

Thank god for glass
It breaks in her hands
And the bangle pieces scatter
Dance, roll, hide and then rest in peace

And then it’s all over
The wealth, the aspirations
The diamonds the status the land
The bank balance the car and
worse beauty in the mirror too

Drink to that,
Bring out the glass bottles, please!

A Mumbai evening

Civilisations will remember this
Travelling used to be like war
Every man and woman battled each other
and the prize was a seat or just an inch at the door
And decades will pass and governments will change
but in the jungle that is Mumbai
only the fittest need apply, only the fittest need apply

Saket's song

Jay turns 5, or was it 6,
And then, it happens,
Saket actually breaks into a song
Rum sometimes has a lovely voice
Ah well, face the music and rejoice
