Glassy

Thank god for glass
It makes things clearer
Through the glass walls
you can see the BMW or the Rolce
And even the perfect diamond
A desire is born

Thank god for glass
It confuses you
Now, you can’t decide what you want
And what you need
The dazzle never leaves your eyes
But something holds you back

Thank god for glass
It shines in the sun
Corporate headquarters wear glass all the time
They stand as temples of greed and wear glass to look sexy

Thank god for glass
In the rat race,
Your rear view mirror tells you whos stealing the lead

Thank god for glass
In it you can see yourself
And how pretty you look
But you cannot see a society
Where looks are skin deep
And everything beautiful is mistaken to be good

Thank god for glass
It sparkles
It makes you want to buy
A stud, a point, a definition

Thank god for glass
It breaks in her hands
And the bangle pieces scatter
Dance, roll, hide and then rest in peace

And then it’s all over
The wealth, the aspirations
The diamonds the status the land
The bank balance the car and
worse beauty in the mirror too

Drink to that,
Bring out the glass bottles, please!

A Mumbai evening

Civilisations will remember this
Travelling used to be like war
Every man and woman battled each other
and the prize was a seat or just an inch at the door
And decades will pass and governments will change
but in the jungle that is Mumbai
only the fittest need apply, only the fittest need apply

Saket's song

Jay turns 5, or was it 6,
And then, it happens,
Saket actually breaks into a song
Rum sometimes has a lovely voice
Ah well, face the music and rejoice

Reporter's Revenge:

Amidst the arresting silence,

There lies a humor in our lines

The crows can become the topic

And they could do a live!

A Monk’s Price

The freezing air
and the derelict monk
The shades of the moon
and his face shining

The pale lines and the tattered clothes
A picture of strength
a picture of weakness

Yet no shiver
No sound even
As he stood there
with hope
and an eternal silence

As if waiting for a miracle!
The door didn’t open
It had been shut for years
And the crickets sang a melancholy song
Or did I just hear that?
Look beyond the tatters
into bigger realities
you may not see them he seemed to whisper
to anyone wanting to listen

But you were so busy with the black and white
And green perhaps
The whispering was a waste
And then in a flash,
the gavel gave it all away anyway

The miracle happened
and the monk didn’t blink
The monk got his million dollars
The frozen home
and the dim light
And the crickets too
would adorn another wall

BLUE

I once stood at vantage point
And looked down with caution
There seemed no end to the madness
As it danced in unusual colors
Slowly the sun set
And it all looked calm one day
The ripples in water too
just seemed to walk away
And that’s when I realised
the ultimate truth
It all looks different in the dark
Almost sexier, almost not
So it’s decided then,
Blue is the new white
Or something like that
-Rahul Joglekar

BLUE
It surrounded the clouds once
Or just rained on a petal
It wrote the most beautiful lines
And even dressed her up sometimes
The sea pretends to own it
And I can see it in your eyes
But don’t let a tear roll downCause then,
its going to be your state of mind
It’s a painter’s fantasy, A gem’s soul
The morning's wedding gown
And sometimes fire itself
Yes sir, It’s the color blue
And something tells me that blue
Is the new whiteAnd that’s what it is perhaps!-
Rahul Joglekar

BLUE

I walked into the room once
The lights cut the air
But green looked slightly purple
And reality seemed a delusion
I looked at myself and saw the difference
My life had changed and so had you
But I still feel the same way sometimes
And your voice seems familiar too
So what happened
and can we live in our dreams?
I stepped to move away
Trying to make sense of it all
And then it struck me,
And struck me hard
The lights were blue,And not yellow
or white
But blue is the new white
Blue is the new white…

Shhh….

It can win you love
It can stop the war
It can bring you that toy
Or just help you bear it all

It can ruin your friendship
But may just make your marriage
You’d love to sleep with it every night
And let it reside in your heart
It visits at funerals
Or just watches the mother and her child

But it can be scary sometimes
Only thunder can be its rival
And for those million moments it fills
It gives them the gift of eternity

That’s the magic of silence
Wearing a new ensemble
And walking down the ramps of life
Never shocking, never revolting
But has a sweet twang of its own
And yes, watch out for it,
You may not hear it tip toe into your life!

The show must go on

Life stopped
And an innocent child’s soul
Was penetrated in a car

They broke and killed
And blood splattered on temple walls
Or was it a mosque

With the stroke of a gavel
It was all done,
They were to die an unnatural death
Worse than those hostages
Or the others from unimportant yesterday

Piece of glass are still reminders
Of how your arrogance ran us over
But our soul still lurks here somewhere
In your trains and your hearts

But the blackened face
Once asked me to see
And see beyond the black disgrace
That the truth as caught on a tape
May be another thing

But for you and me
The slaves of truth,
The complexity of the layers
Are just an encumbrance
A snapshot talks in words of its own
A sequence narrates an essay
A ‘vo’ and a bite
Bring to you the death and gore,
And the madness goes on,
And on and on
